In these difficult times, pastors and missionaries need insight and supernatural resources to successfully deal with personal, family, and ministry challenges. The Lord Jesus Christ must be regarded as preeminent for God's people to fulfill the Great Commission and the Great Commandment (Matthew 28:18-20;22:36-40).

As Colossians 1:16-10 declares,

[Creation] For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist. [Church] And He is the head of the body, the church, who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in all things He may have the preeminence. [Completeness] For it pleased the Father that in Him all the fullness should dwell, [Cross] and by Him to reconcile all things to Himself, by Him, whether things on earth or things in heaven, having made peace through the blood of His cross.

While biblical expositors and devotional writers have celebrated the fuller message of the Cross, it has rarely been central to the discipleship and counseling process.

There are five crucial aspects of the Cross:

• Salvation: Christ is the Lamb (John 1:12,29)
• Dedication: Christ is the Lord (Romans 10:13;12:1,2)
• Identification: Christ is our Life (Romans 6:4-14)
• Emancipation: Christ is Our Liberator (Colossians 2:10-15)
• Direction: Christ is our Leader (Luke 9:23)

Believers who are struggling with stubborn sin, stress, and the problems of life need the radical solution of the Cross applied strategically to their heart. On the resurrection side of the cross, unconditional love and acceptance, a new identity, and freedom become experiential.

A Guide to Freedom Through the Cross

As you read this, you may be in the midst of turmoil. Man may have failed you and God may seem too distant to help. You may have grown up not feeling loved in a way that met your needs. You may never have accepted or loved yourself.

The sense of inadequacy a person can feel in coping with life may run the gamut from mild depression to thoughts of suicide. Because of this, your relationships with those you love may be at the breaking point - or may already be broken seemingly beyond repair. If you are at the point of mild despair or utter desperation, this message is tailored to your situation.

God loved you enough to send a Person - His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ - to die on the cross for your sins, to raise Him again and to provide through Him all that is necessary for a victorious, abundant life. The Wheel Diagram depicts man as a three-part being consisting of spirit,soul and body (I Thess. 5:23). With the body, through the senses, we relate to our surroundings. The soul, or personality, consists of the functions of the mind, will and emotions. The soul enables us to relate to one another. The spirit enables us to transcend our abilities, limitations and circumstances as we are regenerated or reborn and indwelt by the Holy Spirit.
